New Towns of the 20th century have an interesting built heritage and one that is considered worthy of protection. These remarkable towns comprises housing environments, iconic buildings, shopping centres, road layouts, public spaces, and public art. However, they are often considered to be dated and many areas were built with a number of limitations, short time scale and cheap materials reflective of availability. Speakers will discuss how we can look at these New Towns from a heritage perspective and used them as guidance in contemporary and future redevelopments.
