This webinar forms part of our RTPI Online series and is brought to you by RTPI Gloucestershire Young Planners

Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) can be key to effective planning decisions since it helps identify the effects of new developments on views and on the landscape itself. These effects can be quite different. Some developments can have  visual effects but none on landscape character and some vice versa. A depth of analysis and understanding of these two interrelated aspects is required to produce a successful LVIA.(The Landscape Institute, 2020)

John-Paul Friend, Director of LVIA Ltd will take you through the landscape and visual impact process including valued landscape and green belt. John will provide a broad overview of the concepts and guidance with colour added by recent appeal decisions.

John will then take time to answer your live questions. ‘Ask the Expert’ is your chance to ask those questions or points of clarification you have always wanted to know.

The 'Young Planners Ask an Expert' series is organised by and on behalf of Young Planners.  The series aims to give you the chance to get answers to your burning questions and gain knowledge of specialisms within the built environment.
