The RTPI Planning Enforcement Week forms part of the RTPI online series and is brought to you by the RTPI's NAPE Network in association with RTPI Cymru, RTPI Scotland and RTPI Northern Ireland.

We are in this session going to take a walk through the 'dark side' of planning theory to explore what planning enforcement officers can learn from dead French philosophers! Using the premise that there is a theorist or philosopher inside every planning enforcement officer, we'll explore themes such as surveillance, control, self-regulation, and compliance. This opportunity to inject some critical reflection into enforcement practice will be led by Neil Harris (Cardiff University) and chaired by Janet Askew (Ulster University and RTPI Past President 2015).

This is an ideal session for those considering the Experienced Practitioner Route to Chartered membership of the RTPI to support the Planning Theory competence.
