The RTPI Planning Enforcement Week forms part of the RTPI online series and is brought to you by the RTPI's NAPE Network in association with RTPI Cymru, RTPI Scotland and RTPI Northern Ireland.

Direct Action is a useful (although often little used) tool in the planning enforcement armoury; allowing Local Planning Authorities to take the necessary steps to remedy a breach of planning control where there has been a failure to comply. Jane Jones (Snowdonia National Park Authority) will take us through the challenges that the Snowdonia National Park Authority faced to carry out the demolition of the derelict St David’s Hotel in Harlech, which for many years stood as a blight on the landscape in close proximity to the Harlech Castle World Heritage Site.
