Hamburg has been a regular study venue for Leeds School of Planning students and in 2019 the Yorkshire Group of RTPI also made a visit.

There is much for planners to be impressed about in Hamburg’s approach to high density urban development, including the outstanding HafenCity docklands regeneration, due to house 20,000 people.

Hamburg still has major challenges such as road congestion and lack of development sites, which this event will cover as well as the success stories.

Chair: Kevin Thomas, Senior Lecturer, Leeds Beckett University

Speaker: Guido Sempell, Ministry of Urban Development, Hamburg
