Dementia is a disease which affects everyone in some way, whether its directly or through somebody we know, by 2040 there will be an estimated 1.6million people living with dementia in the UK. It is for this reason we think that this topic is actually particularly pertinent to Young Planners.  As planners we possess some of the tools necessary to create a better world for people living with dementia.

Join this cross-professional panel as we debate the role of planning in creating dementia friendly communities that offer good quality housing and well-planned local environments, with good access to local amenities which can help those with dementia live active and fulfilling lives while remaining in their own homes.

The webinar organised by Young Planners Cymru, will be chaired by Thom Simnett who is currently undertaking his master’s dissertation in Dementia Friendly Communities, he will be joined by Sarah Lewis of the RTPI, Ian Sherriff of University of Plymouth and Claire Puckey who is the Dementia Friendly City Co-Ordinator at Plymouth City Council.
