The RTPI London Young Planners are hosting this year’s Young Planners’ Conference on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 September 2025, at London South Bank University.
Focusing on the theme of ‘good health’, the conference will host a range of speakers from a variety of sectors in panel discussions, breakout sessions, and speaker-led talks; as well as hosting study tours to get conference delegates out and about in London, to see how the ‘good health’ theme has been put into planning practice around the capital city.
The last time London held the Young Planners’ Conference was in 2011. Since then, the city has hosted the Olympic Games, and development has continued to expand across the city.
The RTPI London Young Planners chose ‘good health’ as the theme to acknowledge the socio-economic inequalities that can occur within a city environment, and the importance of highlighting ways within the planning process that can be utilised and adopted to meet an increasing range of diverse mental and physical health needs.
With speakers from Prior + Partners, Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), Building Design Partnership( BDP), Greater London Authority (GLA), BeFirst, London Borough of Newham and NHS London Healthy Urban Development Unit (to name just a few!), the conference is expected to bring insight and in-practice knowledge on meeting the objective of planning for good health within London, and the wider context of England.
The variety of speakers highlights the united work from public, private, education, and other tertiary sectors, who seek a joint-approach and positive results from planning with good health in mind.
Exploring London
In addition to the speaker sessions, seven study tours are included in the programme for the afternoon of day one. The study tours offer the opportunity to explore different areas of London, with options to visit Battersea Power Station, Earl’s Court, Clapham Park, King’s Cross, The City of London, or Elephant and Castle.
The study tours are an excellent opportunity for delegates visiting from outside London to explore other areas they may not otherwise visit during their weekend in the city, while remaining on topic.
The walking tours are all hosted by experts in the field, who are knowledgeable and involved with the area. The committee would like to thank all of the tour guides who have offered their time to host these study tours.
Gala dinner
However, the conference weekend is not just about listening to speakers! As well as the day-time conference, delegates have the opportunity to book a place at the gala dinner, to be held on the evening of Friday 5 September at the London Hilton Tower Bridge.
The gala dinner is a three-course dinner with entertainment, and is a relaxed opportunity for networking, adding a more social and elegant side to the conference weekend. Tickets for the gala dinner can be purchased separately, or included in a weekend ticket package.
For delegates attending the conference, a welcome drinks event is to be hosted on the Thursday evening. While not a compulsory part of the conference weekend, previous conference years have confirmed that this informal and relaxed welcome event kick-starts the conference weekend, and settles delegates into the host city.

RTPI London and the Young Planners Committee would like to thank the sponsors Landmark Chambers, Vistry Group, CarneySweeney, and Fisher German for supporting the event.
The event is hosted in partnership with our generous venue sponsor London South Bank University.
