Thank you for being an Ambassador!
Before you review the toolkits and engage with young people, we ask that you:
-
abide by all rules and guidance set by the school teacher or lead contact for the event you are volunteering for;
-
read and understand the RTPI's safeguarding policy;
-
report your planned engagement activity in advance, or the outcomes from the event, to the RTPI via this form.
Ambassadors' toolkits
We've put together a number of resources, arranged by age group, for our RTPI Ambassadors to use and adapt when engaging with schools and young people. School teachers and other youth leaders are welcome to use them too.
Please take look at the materials appropriate to the age group with whom you'll be working.

Safeguarding
Before you undertake a schools visit or other engagement activity, please read and understand the Institute's policy on safeguarding for the Ambassadors programme.
Engagement with schools
There are different ways to get in touch with schools in your local area; for example:
- Contacting:
- your old school,
- a friend or family member who works at a school,
- the school your children attend.
- If you are a planning student or recent graduate, your university should have an outreach officer who can put you in contact with schools in your area.
- Register with an organisation that link volunteers with schools and colleges through workshops and mentoring programmes, for example (not endorsed by the RTPI):
- To find the contact details for schools or careers advisors in your area, use:
- Gov.uk schools information in England and Wales
- Schools Plus in Northern Ireland
- Find a school in Scotland
- Find a school in Ireland
Already visited a school or undertaken a student engagement activity through your place of work or other organisation?
Please report the details and share your feedback, in accordance with RTPI Code of Professional Conduct expectations, and complete our online form.
