RTPI South West runs a wide range of events to support your learning needs.
South West CPD events
We are committed to ensuring every seminar and webinar includes perspectives from the public, private and third sectors. This helps create balanced discussion, meaningful debate and events that reflect the diversity of planners across our region.
In 2026, we will be delivering a mix of in‑person and hybrid CPD opportunities, with additional events added throughout the year. Our hybrid format ensures you can take part wherever you are based, either in person or virtually.

Other in person CPD opportunities
We aim to offer a variety of shorter events—such as breakfast sessions, lunchtime learning and early evening talks—to give members flexible ways to learn and connect.
These events rely on the ideas and enthusiasm of volunteers. If you are interested in helping us shape or host an event, we would love to hear from you.
Webinars
A programme of free webinars will also be available, with new sessions added to the Events Calender around two months in advance.
Young Planner events
With four Young Planner Steering Groups across the South West, you’re never far from one of their popular CPD or social activities.
Social and networking events
In 2026, we will once again celebrate the impact of planning with two key events:
-
1 July – RTPI South West summer members reception and awards ceremony
-
1 October – RTPI South West dinner 2026
We also collaborate with LPAs and consultancies to deliver informal networking opportunities, including site visits and evening talks. If you are interested in hosting an event, please get in touch.
Training
Our interactive RTPI Training Masterclasses online, offer high‑value online learning in small groups, led by expert trainers. These sessions replace previous RTPI Training courses and are available at a lower cost than the former in‑person options.
You can also explore a wide range of free learning modules on RTPI Learn, featuring text, videos, diagrams, web links and interactive quizzes with instant feedback.
Speakers and topics
We are always looking for speakers and topic suggestion for events to help enhance knowledge, provide guidance, shape policy and share experiences with case studies within the region and across England. Please get in touch with your Charlotte Daborn, RTPI South West Regional Manager if you can help
Sponsorship opportunities
RTPI South West have a range of sponsorship opportunities for a number of events in the year, so please do get in touch to discuss. As well as supporting events which raise the profile of planning, they are a great way of aligning to your organisation values and goals.
