Intersectionality in planning and design
Bringing together planners, designers and architects from a range of backgrounds, this event will explore how these different professions operate within the planning process and ways in which they can collaborate to create high quality places. The panel of experts from five organisations will talk through their involvement in the design process and their interactions with the other professions, giving perspectives on both.
Following the CPD event, attendees are invited to continue networking and getting to know those from different career backgrounds at a nearby venue.
What you'll gain:
- Learn about design concepts and where they’ve been successfully implemented through case studies.
- Understand the design process through from conception, consultation and planning approval.
- Planners to learn about the Urban Design Group and designers/architects to learn about the RTPI.

Getting to the venue
Arup offices are in Birmingham, One Centenary Way.
By train: Birmingham New Street Station is about a 12-minute walk away, and Birmingham Snow Hill Station is around 8 minutes on foot.
By bus: The venue is served by numerous bus routes stopping in and around Centenary Square and Broad Street, including services operated by National Express West Midlands.
By car: You'll find several car parks nearby, including Utilita Arena Birmingham Car Park, Q-Park Brindleyplace, and NCP Birmingham St John's.
By taxi: Taxis can drop you off directly outside One Centenary Way, just a few metres from the venue entrance.
Before you set off, it's worth checking for any travel updates, including rail disruptions, roadworks, or traffic delays that may affect your journey.
