Submitting your application

2026 new applications

Please submit your application via the online joining portal. The RTPI will accept files up to 10 MB each. If an individual document is larger than this, please contact the Membership team for advice on how to resave your submission in a smaller file size.

All first-time and resubmissions from February 2026 onwards should be made via the online joining portal. We will no longer accept applications via email.  

Labelling your application files

We accept Word and PDF documents; we do not accept Outlook files. Please make sure that the Corroborator and Sponsor Declaration Forms are saved as separate PDF documents before uploading.  Submitting as a PDF file will ensure that your formatting, such as page layout, will not change so you may prefer to convert your files to PDF. 

Your PES, PCS, PDP, examples of professional work, sponsorship and corroboration must be submitted as separate files. Please label each file using the following convention:

• Membership number – last name – route / class you are applying to – description of file e.g. 12345 Smith L-APC PDP 

Fees

An administration fee is required to process your application. Current administration fees are shown here as well as how to pay.

The Degree Apprenticeship End Point Assessment is funded as part of the Chartered Town Planner Degree Apprenticeship. Therefore, an administration fee is not required for the Chartered (DA-APC) route. An End Point Assessment Fee is paid by the university out of the apprenticeship funding.

The annual membership subscription fees to maintain your membership are listed here. A confirmation of fees notice will be issued to you once you have joined and will be pro-rated based on the month you join.
