Before you start your application
Step 1 – Create an online account
You will need an RTPI online account to apply.
- Already a member? Sign in using your email.
- Forgot your password? Reset your password.
- No longer have access to your email? Recover your account.

Step 2 – Know if you are eligible
You must check the relevant guidance and information for the membership class to know if you are eligible to apply.
Step 3 – Have the relevant documentation to hand
You will need to have the relevant documentation and supporting evidence ready to upload as part of your application. You can save your application at any point and return to it. A checklist is below.
Fellow membership checklist:
To complete your application for Fellow membership, you will need the following:
- Your employment history.
- Your 1,000 to 2,000 word written statement detailing how you have met the criteria.
- Four nomination forms from RTPI Chartered members.
- A credit/debit card for payment.
Documents must be either Word or PDF and each file can be up to 10MB in size.
You do not need all the above information to hand to start your application, you can save your application at any point and return to it.

You will need approximately 10 minutes to complete the application.
Step 4 – Know what membership fees are payable
Please make sure you understand the membership fees.
Step 5 – Start your application
When you’re ready, start your application by creating an online account or logging in if you already have an account.
After you apply
After submitting your application, you will receive an email confirming successful submission. Please note that if any documentation is missing, we will contact you via your primary email address.
Your application will be assessed, and you will be notified of your assessment outcome on the published date. The Fellow assessment round dates can be found on our website.
All RTPI members are bound by the RTPI’s Byelaws, Regulations, Royal Charter, Code of Professional Conduct and Membership Terms and Conditions
