The RTPI is delighted to announce the finalists of the Awards for Research Excellence 2026.
The awards recognise and celebrate leading spatial planning research by RTPI-accredited planning schools and RTPI members.
The awards categories are:
- Patsy Healey Award for Academic Excellence
- Sir Peter Hall Award for Wider Engagement
- Tony Crook Award for Early Career Research
- Student Dissertation Award
- Practitioner Research Award
There are 16 finalists with entries covering a range of issues affecting the planning profession, from the politics of land value capture to urban heat adaptation and nature-based design.

The winners will be announced on Monday 7 September 2026 at the drinks reception of the UK-Ireland Planning Research Conference, hosted by Cardiff University.
