Bringing international professional development opportunities to early career members

Béatrice Crabb is a Chartered Planner and the International Manager at the Royal Town Planning Institute

As a global leading planning professional organisation, the RTPI brings unique professional development opportunities to our members through our extensive international networks and partnerships.

As an RTPI member you have access to exclusive opportunities to connect with the global planning community, share your ideas and projects, connect with other early career planners and learn from different contexts.

Are you a planning practitioner? Are you under 35 or do you have no more than 10 years of post-qualification experience in planning? If the answer is yes, as an RTPI member you have the opportunity to apply to take part in a young planners’ workshop bringing together professionals from across Europe. If you are selected, you will receive a travel bursary of 400 euros to help cover your expenses.

How does this work?

The RTPI is a member of the European Council of Spatial Planners (ECTP-CEU). The organisation brings together professional planning associations, institutes and agencies from 29 countries in Europe, including the UK and Ireland. It provides a platform to foster dialogue and exchanges between planners across boundaries, supports planning education and professional development, promotes good planning practice and champions the profession at a European and global level.

One of the priorities of the ECTP-CEU is to empower early career planners by giving them opportunities to share their experience and expertise with other planning professionals at different stages of their careers within an international context. This year as part of their biennial conference, they are organising a young planners’ workshop integrated into their main conference programme. They are inviting early career planners to present their own project or a significant contribution they have made as part of a larger team. If you are selected, you will be able to present your work at the ECTP-CEU 15th Biennale of European Towns and Town Planners taking place in Lisbon this autumn.  The call for expression of interest is open now to early career members.
