Support RTPI Cymru in developing and promoting planning policy, practice and research in Wales by applying to join the next RTPI Cymru Policy and Research Forum.   

Outline of role

RTPI Cymru's Policy and Research Forum plays a key role in the work of RTPI Cymru, including: 

  • Supporting the development of RTPI Cymru planning and related policy positions, including advising on responses to consultations; 

  • Contributing to establishing RTPI Cymru positions; 

  • Promoting the use of research, evidence and the good practice of planning across Wales. 

Eligibility criteria 

The Forum's membership comprises Corporate, Fellow and Associate RTPI members from across Wales, with a range of planning interests. We encourage applications from members from diverse backgrounds and sectors.  Different experiences and views are essential for generating ideas and holding effective discussion.  

Minimum time commitment 

  • 4 meetings a year in March, June, September and December, hybrid online and at the RTPI Cymru office in central Cardiff. Meetings are expected to last around 2 hours and tend to be scheduled from 11:00 to 13:00, and on the same day as the Executive Committee meetings 

  • Much of the Forum’s work is carried out via email, with the majority of work taking place between meetings.   

  • Reading papers in preparation for meetings 

  • One-hour online induction session at the start of your term.

 Being a member of the Policy and Research Forum provides the opportunity to: 

  • Develop and share individual views;  
  • Form professional friendships;  
  • Contribute to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
