The members’ lounge – bring a guest

The members’ lounge is a valued and well-used part of the member experience. It provides a welcoming and professional space in central London and has received consistently positive feedback from members who appreciate having a dedicated environment to work, connect or recharge during a busy day.

Its continued success reflects the RTPI’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive and member-focused community.

In response to member feedback, members can bring one guest when using the lounge as part of a six-month pilot running until June 2026.

This enhancement builds on the popularity of the lounge and adds further value to this member benefit. It offers an opportunity to introduce a colleague, collaborator or prospective member to the institute and to share first-hand the professional and welcoming culture of the RTPI.

To help maintain the positive atmosphere of the space, all guests must be accompanied by their host member at all times. Members and guests are expected to uphold the principles of courtesy, professionalism and respect, ensuring the lounge remains welcoming and productive for everyone

The members' lounge - how to book

Regrettably, we cannot offer any private meeting spaces in our meeting rooms.

Our members’ lounge is an area on the first floor of the London office designed to provide a comfortable and exclusive space for our members to catch up on their emails prior or post other meetings in London or simply relax with a tea or a coffee.

Members have access to a range of amenities, including comfortable seating, complimentary refreshments, secure Wi-Fi, and desk space with power to charge laptops and phones. You will also have access to our small library and, if you are a cyclist please let us know and you can use the bike storage and changing area on the lower ground floor.

The space is available from 9.30 until 16:30. Due to Fire Regulations and the building capacity it is important that you book in advance. This is a private space for members and is not open to the public.

Accessibility

Members and guests with accessibility requirements are encouraged to notify the reception team at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements and support can be provided.

Apart from the reception area which has a small, concealed platform lift, there is now step free access throughout the building facilitated by a larger passenger lift which can accommodate wheelchair users. There are also three accessible toilets which are decorated using high-contrast colours to aid those with visual impairment. The shower in the basement is also accessible.
