Welcome to your local committees
Our nations and regions are central to bringing the RTPI’s vision to life. They play a vital part in delivering the refreshed 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, building on the foundations of the original 2020–2030 Corporate Strategy.
By championing the RTPI’s ambitions, each region helps turn our mission into action. In 2025, regions came together around a set of shared objectives, creating a strong framework from which local activities continue to grow and thrive.
These objectives are executed through the Regional Management Board (RMB) who oversees what we deliver in the region through the preparation of the annual business plan and budget. The Regional Activities Committee (RAC) and the Young Planner committees deliver a range of activities supported by various working or sub committee groups.
Volunteer members are making a difference by:
- Shaping the development of our CPD events programme for the region.
- Inputting into consultations and policy updates.
- Inspiring future planners and supporting Young Planners
- Contributing to research.
- Supporting RTPI Ambassadors and connecting to educational establishments.
- Organising inter-professional networking opportunities.
- Raising the profile of planning through news and blogs.
- Judging the RTPI South West Awards for Planning Excellence
- Supporting the activities and promotion of Planning Aid England
- Organising the annual regional Awards dinner
- Celebrating new Chartered Members, volunteers and announce the regional award winners at the annual Awards reception
Our volunteers come from the public, private, academic and third sectors and play a vital role in supporting our members by volunteering their time, enthusiasm and expertise in planning.
