Committees and volunteering

RTPI South East Committee Members are all volunteers with expertise in many aspects of planning and represent both the private and public sectors.

The Regional Management Board (RMB) prepares and sets the annual Business Plan and Budget and manages the overall affairs of RTPI South East. The Regional Activities Committee (RAC) organise and deliver a range of activities including:

  • Steering the CPD event programme for the region
  • Inputting into consultations and policy updates
  • Inspiring future planners and supporting the Young Planner Groups activities
  • Contributing to research
  • Organising inter-professional networking opportunities
  • Raising the profile of planning
  • Online blog
  • Judging the RTPI South East Awards for Planning Excellence
  • Supporting the activities and promotion of Planning Aid England
  • Celebrating at the Annual Dinner and Awards

How do I get involved?

  • We're a friendly group and newcomers are always welcome.
  • RTPI members are welcome to attend meetings as a guest, so please get in touch and come along to find out what it’s all about.
  • We meet 5 times a year for approximately 2 hours, with a mix of in person and hybrid meetings at accessible locations in the region.

Current opportunities

  • Nominations for committee roles open in September but we can also co-opt members onto the committee or working groups at any time, please contact us to enquire.
  • We are also always looking for volunteers to speak at our events. If you would be interested in speaking or have an idea for a CPD session you would like to organise, contact us.
