Please join the Dorset Young Planners as we explore case studies of delivering renewable energy in the context of the declared climate crisis. Better understand the need for energy security, climate awareness and planning consideration when seeking to deliver renewable schemes.

This event is aimed at Young Planners, however subject to numbers may be opened up to the wider planner network.

What to expect:

This event will provide a helpful overview of renewables in planning, including wind/solar, energy
from waste and a tour of a solar to hydrogen scheme in Canford.

What you'll gain:

  • Understand the role of renewable energy infrastructure in supporting the UK's net zero ambitions and the transition to a low-carbon economy.
  • Recognise the planning considerations associated with renewable energy infrastructure, including land use, environmental impacts, landscape considerations, and community engagement.
  • Appreciate the practical challenges and opportunities involved in delivering innovative
energy projects through first-hand observation of a live operational facility.
  • Apply learning from the site visit to future planning practice by considering how emerging
energy technologies may shape planning decisions and spatial strategies.

This event is eligible for up to 2.5 hours of CPD and covers the following subjects from the core CPD framework:

  1. Development and Infrastructure Planning
