Andrew is a Chartered Town Planner in our Real Estate department. He specialises in planning matters and undertakes a range of development management, planning policy and enforcement work.

Andrew became a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute in 1996 and has been a planning consultant with Ward Hadaway for more than 20 years.   He has worked throughout the north of the country and beyond undertaking planning work.  Previously he was a planning officer with three local planning authorities. Additionally he has had a period of secondment with a national house builder. Clients include developers, businesses, estates, land owners, pressure groups and private individuals.  Andrew is NEPRO accredited and additionally has had instructions from public sector organisations including councils,  NHS Trusts and CCGs.

Andrew has particular expertise in cases which are contentious and where there are difficult policy, legal and technical issues.

Clare is a Director in the Planning team and has over 17 years' experience of advising on a wide range of planning, highways and compulsory purchase projects. Clare has particular expertise in advising on the delivery of complex public sector regeneration schemes and compulsory purchase orders.

Clare advises on the full range of planning, highways and compulsory purchase matters including:

Planning obligations;
Deeds of variation;
All aspects of planning applications including; appeals, enforcement, injunctions, judicial review and other statutory challenges;
Planning policy, including the adoption of local and neighbourhood plans,
Highways and public rights of way including stopping up orders, definitive map modification orders and traffic orders.
Compulsory purchase orders.

Carolyn specialises in all areas of planning highways and compulsory purchase law covering both contentious and non-contentious matters. A large part of Carolyn's practice is acting for acquiring authorities in respect of Compulsory Purchase Orders and she has advised extensively on strategic and preliminary issues involved in making a CPO. Carolyn is currently acting for a number of North East local authorities promoting compulsory purchase orders including regeneration, housing and highways.  
 
Carolyn also acts for a range of private sector bodies including national housebuilders securing (often complex) planning obligations,  providing strategic planning advice, advising on planning enforcement, BNG and nutrient neutrality issues and advising in respect of rights of way (town and village greens, definitive map modification orders, and stopping up orders). 
 

Scott is a specialist planning, environmental and regulatory barrister with a particular focus on enforcement and planning appeals. He is consistently listed as one of the highest rated planning barristers in Planning Magazine’s Legal Survey.
Scott has a wealth of experience in enforcement-related matters, frequently advising on and acting in substantial and complex enforcement Inquiry work.

He also appears in Crown and Magistrates’ Courts prosecutions relating to planning, Listed Buildings, tree/environmental crime and related regulatory fields on behalf of a wide range of clients from national companies to private individuals, and planning authorities.
