Many of the major leaps in the English planning system have happened as a result of crisis. COVID-19 has had a wide range of primary and secondary impacts and has reconfigured how London operates.  Planners have a vital role in supporting sustainable, resilient and inclusive recovery from COVID-19.

This session will explore what sustainable recovery looks like for London and how can planners and the wider built environment profession support its delivery.  How will London look in 2030 if we get sustainable recovery right? What are the risks if we do not achieve it?  You will leave the session inspired and with lots of practical ideas of action that you can take!

This webinar will help you:

  • Understand what sustainable recovery is and the role of planners in achieving it
  • Explore the opportunities and challenges in achieving a sustainable recovery within London
  • Draw the links between sustainable recovery and wider issues including tackling the climate crisis and meeting the Sustainable Development Goals
  • Identify practical actions for planners and the built environment profession in championing sustainable recovery

Speakers:

  • Dan Jestico - Director of Futures, Iceni Projects
  • Jude Hassall - Senior Policy and Programmes Officer, Sustainable Development, Greater London Authority
  • Isabella Krabbe - Research Officer, Royal Town Planning Institute
  • Robyn Skerratt (Webinar Chair) - RTPI Young Planner of the Year 2020
