The draft of the Government’s National Design Code will be out to consultation shortly. In the absence of up to date local design guidance Local Authorities in the North East will have to default to this on design issues. It will have been prepared in the context of the “Living with Beauty” report from the Building Better, Building Beauty Commission. The webinar will explore the content of the Code and consider the implications of its’ default standing for the management and control of design in the planning process.
Speakers now confirmed;
- Andy von Bradsky – Head of Architecture at MHCLG --- on the Govt approach to design in planning
- Peter Studdert – Adviser to the Building Better, Building Beauty Commission --- on how the “Beauty” agenda might play out in planning.
- John Devlin – Chair of DesignNE --- on training and support to Councils and communities to help them better engage with design in planning now – and in a future heavily frontloaded system.
