Ambassadors' resources for use in schools

Thank you for being an Ambassador

Before you review the materials and resources and engage with young people, we ask that you:

RTPI Ambassador training

Before using the training materials below, please review the Ambassador training video, which gives helpful guidance on how to use the materials with young people.

Ambassadors' toolkits

We've put together a number of resources, arranged by age group, for our RTPI Ambassadors to use and adapt when engaging with schools and young people. School teachers and other youth leaders are welcome to use them too.

Please take look at the materials appropriate to the age group with whom you'll be working.

Safeguarding

Before you undertake a schools visit or other engagement activity, please read and understand the Institute's policy on safeguarding for the Ambassadors programme.

Engagement with schools

There are different ways to get in touch with schools in your local area; for example:

  • Contacting:
    • your old school,
    • a friend or family member who works at a school,
    • the school your children attend.
  • If you are a planning student or recent graduate, your university should have an outreach officer who can put you in contact with schools in your area.
  • All new Ambassadors are asked to sign up using the form available on our volunteering page and tick 'Careers outreach - RTPI Ambassadors'. In addition, we are excited to be partnering with Education and Employers on schools' engagement. All RTPI Ambassadors - new and existing - are encouraged to sign up to Education and Employers' Inspiring the Future platform, to be matched with schools.
  • Other organisations that link volunteers with schools include (not endorsed by the RTPI):

Already visited a school or undertaken a student engagement activity through your place of work or other organisation?

Please report the details and share your feedback, in accordance with RTPI Code of Professional Conduct expectations, and complete our online form.
