Digital planning

This edition of Planning Research Matters presents research on digital data and tools and how they can be used effectively in planning practice.

One project presents the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Digital Solutions Hub, which enables planners and practitioners from other sectors to more easily access environmental data to help solve real-world problems.

Another project examines digital engagement, and how a human-centred approach to using technologies can deliver better outcomes. This was also a finalist of the RTPI Sir Peter Hall Award for Excellence in Research and Engagement in 2022.

We also include an Interface collection of essays exploring how the rise of digital technologies, Big Data, and PropTech is reshaping land use, housing markets, and planning governance.
