The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) announced the Honorary Membership of Alexandra Notay at the General Assembly meeting last week in recognition of her wide-ranging and positive impact on the planning profession.
Alexandra is an international expert on housing, placemaking and ESG and a recognised thought leader in the UK’s Build to Rent sector for more than a decade.
Alex had a direct role in masterplanning and delivering residential schemes in Newcastle, Nottingham, Leeds, Glasgow and London through her Board Director role at igloo Regeneration.
She has been on the Planner’s Women of Influence list three times, in 2017 and 2018 for her work on Build to Rent and international collaboration and in 2023 for her role as Chair of the National Land Data Programme and its pioneering recommendations. That year she also won Residential Leader of the Year at the inaugural Inspiring Women in Property Awards.
The RTPI's decision to award Honorary Membership to Alexandra Notay highlighted her contribution to the advancement of planning; particularly the positive influence of her work in the Build to Rent sector since 2010, chairing the Radix Big Tent Housing Commission and acting as lead author for last year’s report championing the return of strategic planning and sitting on the government Digital Planning and PropTech programme boards.
She said: “I am enormously grateful and proud to have been awarded Honorary Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. I would like to thank Andrew Taylor FRTPI, Dr Catriona Riddell FRTPI, Jo Davis MRTPI, Prof. (Dr.) Samer Bagaeen FRICS MRTPI FRGS and Wei Yang OBE for supporting my nomination and being such wonderful mentors and colleagues in my work and life more broadly.
“For someone who has spent more than twenty years being a generalist with an eclectic mix of real estate and place-related expertise, it is really special to be invited to join such a prestigious professional body and to be considered worthy of the suffix Hon MRTPI.”
The next deadline to nominate an individual for honorary membership is Mon 7 April 2025: https://www.rtpi.org.uk/membership/about-rtpi-membership/apply/honorary-membership-honrtpi/
