Eligibility criteria

There are nine members of MAAP, who represent different types of assessors, members and other stakeholders.

Members of MAAP must be a Chartered member or a Legal Associate or Legal Member, if they are applying to become the Legal Associate assessor representative.

Minimum time commitment

There are three meetings per year in February, June and September. The June meeting is normally held in-person at RTPI’s offices in Botolph Lane, London. The other two meetings are held online. Members will also be required to read Panel papers in advance of meetings and be prepared to participate in the meeting. There may be other smaller, ad hoc, requests on Panel members’ time throughout the year.

Length of term

The term length is two-years. Members can serve three terms (six years) before they need to step down from the Panel for at least one year, before they can reapply to join the Panel.

Impact of role

Becoming a Chartered member is a significant step in a young planner’s career, it is often the first-time the planner will have significantly engaged with RTPI. It is also important the pipeline of young planners into the profession is maintained.
