Outline of role
The RTPI Awards for Research Excellence recognise and promote high-quality impactful spatial planning research completed by RTPI-accredited planning school academics and by RTPI members from the UK and around the world. The Awards are made possible by our excellent volunteer judges, who give their time and expertise to judge the submitted entries.
Volunteer judges are recruited and allocated to an award category, then they receive their category’s entries to review, score and comment on. After submitting their scores and comments, judges attend an online panel in early June to choose finalists and winners.
Judges are also invited to attend the awards ceremony at the opening evening of the UK-Ireland Planning Research Conference in early September.
