Before you start your application
Step 1 – Create an online account
You will need an RTPI online account to apply.
- Already a member or rejoining? Sign in using your email.
- Forgot your password? Reset your password.
- No longer have access to your email please contact the Membership team on membership@rtpi.org.uk
- If you don’t have an account, create an RTPI account.
Step 2 – Know if you are eligible
You must check the relevant guidance and information for the membership class to know if you are eligible to apply.
Step 3 – Have the relevant documentation to hand
You will need to have the relevant documentation and supporting evidence ready to upload as part of your application. You can save your application at any point and return to it. A checklist is below.
Student membership checklist:
To complete your application for student membership, you will need the following:
- Details of your RTPI accredited course, if applicable, or the course you are studying.
- Confirmation you are studying an RTPI accredited course, to receive free Student membership. This may be in the form of a declaration form signed by your planning school, or a dedicated code assigned to your RTPI accredited course. Please check with your course administrator.
- Your employer details, if also in work.
- A credit/debit card for payment, if applicable.
Please note: if you are an existing student member wishing to extend your course end date, please contact the Membership team.
You will need approximately 10 minutes to complete the application.
Step 4 – Know what membership fees are payable
Please make sure you understand the membership fees.
Step 5 – Start your application
When you’re ready, start your application by creating an online account or logging in if you already have an account.
After you apply
After submitting your application, you will receive an email confirming successful submission. Please note that if any documentation is missing, we will contact you via your primary email address.
Your application will be assessed, and you will receive notification of the outcome of your assessment by email.
All RTPI members are bound by the RTPI’s Byelaws, Regulations, Royal Charter, Code of Professional Conduct and Membership Terms and Conditions
