Membership for academics
""

The RTPI welcomes applications for membership from planning lecturers, teachers and researchers. Academics can join as an Associate or Chartered member depending on their experience.

Why join?

  • Status: professional recognition both in and out of academia.
  • Awards: access to RTPI research grants and competitions.
  • Influence: shape our quality assurance standards for planning schools and accredited courses.
  • Benefits and services: take advantage of the wide range of benefits and services we offer.

Apply

If you're a PhD student, or early career researcher or lecturer, with a minimum of 2 years' experience, you may be eligible to achieve the partial professional qualification, Associate of the RTPI. Associates can progress to Chartered membership through the Associate Assessment of Professional Competence (A-APC).

As an academic, Associate membership opened the door to a range of interdisciplinary spatial planning teaching and research.

As an academic, Chartered membership provides me with the ability to network with a wide range of members and remain at the forefront of thought and debate.
