The RTPI Cymru awards and summer party is organised the night before the Wales Planning Conference to try and maximise the ability of members from all parts of Wales to attend both events.  It is the opportunity to announce the winners of RTPI Cymru Awards for Planning Excellence, and welcome newly Chartered Members into the profession. 

The party will take place on 16 June 2026

We're offering two sponsorship packages comprising:

• Logo on all pre-event promotional material, including e-mail marketing, in social media and potentially one edition of Cynllunio 
• Pop-up banner at the event
• Public thanks during the speech

Each sponsor package is £750 + VAT.

The Wales planning conference will be held in Cardiff on 18 June 2026. Our biggest event of the year and set with a specific theme, it is an opportunity for the profession to listen to various presentations from a wide range of speakers, attend workshops and network throughout the day. 

The Cabinet Secretary with responsibility for Planning is normally invited to give a keynote speech- though with Senedd elections this is to be confirmed.

There is an opportunity to sponsor 10 free tickets for Cardiff University Planning students for £500 + VAT. Included in the price are two free tickets for the sponsor as well as your logo in the delegates package and a public thank you from the Conference Chair.

Exhibition space is available for hire at a rate of £350 + VAT. Included in the price are two free places for exhibition representatives to attend the Conference, plus up to a maximum of 4 additional Conference tickets at the discounted price of £50pp + VAT.

The RTPI Cymru Awards for Planning Excellence celebrate outstanding plans, projects and people that demonstrate the power of planning. These awards highlight exceptional examples of how planning and planners have a positive impact on our quality of life in creating exceptional places and protecting our environment.

The RTPI Cymru Summer Party will celebrate Wales’ winners, who will then go forward to the UK level RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence. In 2025, Wales had 4 shortlisted entries for Wales and one was commended at the UK awards.

The headline sponsorship package for the RTPI Cymru Awards includes:

The headline RTPI Cymru Award sponsor package is £750 + VAT.

Similar sponsorship packages are also available for the RTPI Cymru Young Planner of the Year Category and for the RTPI Cymru Small Consultancy of the Year Award, each at £350 + VAT.

RTPI Cymru has a regular presence at the Eistedfodd Genedlaethol.

The North Wales Conference will take place at the Quay Hotel, Conwy, on 22 October 2026 . This is our biggest event in North Wales and has seen the number of delegates attending increasing year on year. Previous conference topics have included High Street regeneration, Welsh language and rural planning, and regional planning.

The sponsorship package includes:
• Logo on all pre-event promotional material including e-mail marketing and social media
• Logo on the RTPI Cymru website
• A speaker (to be agreed)
• An exhibition space at the venue
• Public thanks from the Conference Chair
• 2 x free conference tickets (in addition to a free ticket for your speaker).

This headline sponsor package is £800 + VAT.

The RTPI Future Planners initiative involves volunteer Ambassadors helping to raise awareness of town planning, and championing planning as a great career.

Ambassadors can be asked to promote the profession at university careers fairs and in school, or work with teachers to help embed planning in the curriculum.  You could help with writing a case study which we can turn into a lesson or skills workshop.  You could ask your company to offer an experience insight day for a student or class.

Stepping up to 'give back' to the profession could be a fantastic way to practise your communication skills, and a fun way to make links to community engagement and public consultations you've undertaking in your workplace.  If that is the case, and it meets your personal development plan objectives, it could also be counted as CPD.

This is also a way to potentially grow the pipeline of future planners and secure a sustainable future for the profession.
