Ben has always been an active member of RTPI West Midlands and previously Young Planners West Midlands. He actively champions the profession and region through his roles as the Regional Representative on General Assembly, and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead building relationships with other institutes and groups including Building Equality. He looks forward to doing the same as Senior Vice Chair.
Whilst Ben identifies as a Transport Planner, he is a qualified Town Planner having graduated from the University of Sheffield with a master's in Urban Studies and Town And Regional Planning and is a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. Ben is also a member of the Transport Planning Society.
In his day job, Ben is Highways Development Management & Control Manager at Worcestershire County Council overseeing its statutory requirements within the planning process including highway responses and road adoptions. Ben initially started is career at JMP Consultants before moving into the public sector and working at Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council, National Highways and Leicestershire County Council covering transport and land use policy development and development management.
