Winner: Teynham Parochial CofE Primary School

Teynham Parochial CofE Primary School submitted by Bailey Partnership

The chair’s award is a discretionary award presented by the Chair of the South East region. The theme for this year is 'Planning for Community'.

This entry demonstrated the successful delivery of a new two-form entry primary school, transforming an existing school into a healthier, more welcoming environment that genuinely supports children's wellbeing.

The expansion of pupil capacity and nursery provision directly addresses local demand arising from housing growth and projected increases in pupil numbers. The scheme provided a strong demonstration of sustainability measures and biodiversity enhancements, while its rapid progression to planning permission showcased the value of planners in promoting and delivering essential community infrastructure.

The judges were impressed by the extensive and meaningful engagement undertaken throughout the project, including consultation with pupils, local stakeholders, and residents, ensuring that community feedback directly influenced the design and development of the scheme. They praised the collaborative approach taken and the clear evidence that engagement shaped the final outcome.

This project delivers much-needed educational infrastructure to support wider growth and required effective planning leadership to achieve a successful outcome. A worthy winner, the scheme has delivered impressive results through increased educational capacity that supports both existing and future communities.

Congratulations to Bailey Partnership.
