Kingston Wharf

Kingston Wharf submitted by Lewis and Co Planning

Kingston Wharf is a landmark regeneration project that has transformed a previously underused industrial wharf in Shoreham into a vibrant waterfront neighbourhood. Guided by the Shoreham Harbour Joint Area Action Plan, the scheme demonstrates how planning-led regeneration can unlock complex brownfield sites while delivering meaningful social and environmental benefits. The development provides entirely affordable homes alongside employment space, new public realm, and a publicly accessible riverside walk, reconnecting the town with the River Adur. Climate resilience, biodiversity enhancement, and a future connection to a district heat network were embedded throughout the design, ensuring the project supports sustainable harbour regeneration.

The judges found Kingston Wharf to be a particularly well-rounded scheme, going beyond standard practice in climate action. The 100% affordable nature of the development, together with the incorporation of a publicly accessible waterfront path, strengthens its social sustainability credentials.

The scheme is the result of effective partnership working between a range of organisations, combined with strong community engagement and clear evidence that the proposals were adapted in response to community feedback.

Congratulations to Lewis and Co Planning.
