Committees and volunteering

The RTPI East of England Committee comprises passionate volunteers with expertise in planning, representing both the private and public sectors.

Guided by the Regional Management Board's (RMB) business plan and budget, the Regional Activities Committee (RAC) is committed to creating meaningful and engaging activities that inspire and connect our community.

Members of our committees:

  • Share your insights and thoughts in consultations and policy updates.
  • Inspire the next generation of planners and support Young Planners across the East of England.
  • Get involved in meaningful research that makes a difference.
  • Create opportunities for inter-professional networking that foster collaboration
  • Raise the profile of planning in our communities
  • Contribute to our e-newsletter and keep
  • Judge the RTPI East of England Awards for Planning Excellence and celebrate outstanding achievements.
  • Support the initiatives and promotion of Planning Aid England, making planning accessible for everyone.
  • Help organise our annual awards ceremony, a highlight of the year.
  • Celebrate the achievements of new Chartered Members and Volunteers at our regional Award winners at the ceremony.

How do I get involved?

  • We are a friendly group, and newcomers are always welcome.
  • RTPI members are welcome to attend meetings as a guest, so please get in touch and come along to find out what it's all about.
  • We meet 6 times a year for 1.5 hours, with a mix of in person and hybrid meetings at accessible locations in the region.

Current opportunities

  • Nominations for committee roles open every September, but don't worry if you miss that window. We can also co-opt members onto the committee at any time. If you are interested, please contact us.
  • We are also always looking for volunteers to speak at our events. If you would be interested in speaking or have an idea for a CPD session you would like to organise, contact us.
