2026 is set to be a pivotal year for planning policy, as planners navigate the transition toward preparing the new style of Local Plans. This seminar will provide valuable insights into the latest policy and legislative changes shaping plan-making. It will include a panel discussion examining the evolving planning policy landscape, including the resurgence of strategic planning, the introduction of streamlined Local Plans, and how authorities can effectively manage this period of significant change.

What to expect:
We will hear from six speakers from different perspectives who will cover key topics such as the evolution of local plans; the relationship between National Plan Making & Decision Making Policies and local policy; the emerging role of Spatial Development Strategies in strategic planning and potential for legal ramifications and pitfalls.

Getting to the venue

Copthorne Hotel is situated on the Quayside, Newcastle.

By train: Newcastle Station is about a 20-minute walk away. 

By bus: the venue is served by many bus routes.

By car:  The hotel has it's own car park with discounted rates available for delegates. Information will be shared with joining instructions. 

By taxi: Taxis can drop you off around  2 metres from the venue.

Before you set off, it's worth checking for any updates – e.g. ongoing roadworks in the area that might affect your journey.
