Drones PANs launch event
To celebrate the launch of RTPI practice advice on planning for drones, we’re hosting a panel event followed by a drinks reception.
Hear from the authors of the report, Dr Paul Cureton and Dr Anna Jackman, alongside a mix of expert panellists.
There will be an opportunity for Q&A at the end.
What to expect:
In the relatively near future unmanned aerial drones may be a part of everyday life in the UK: Flying in corridors above you, delivering shopping, and even moving passengers between transport hubs. Amazon has already started delivering parcels by drone in Darlington.
Planners will have a unique responsibility to harness this technological advancement for the public good, and ensure that drone infrastructure is integrated into the built environment in socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable and just ways.
Time is short. Given the lifespans of local and strategic plans, rapid advancements in drones’ capabilities, and their potential to significantly shape the build environment, planners will need to begin future-facing local plan policy now.
What you'll gain:
Insights into:
- key concepts and issues for planners related to the widespread roll out of arial drones in the UK
- the possible impacts of drones on the UK’s built and natural environments
- how planning policy could shape the roll out of drone infrastructure so that it contributes to place making and is delivered in a way that is socially, environmentally, and economically equitable
This event is eligible for up to 1 hour of CPD and covers the following subjects from the core CPD framework:
