APC workshop – guidance, advice and Q and A

This in‑person event, organised by the West Midlands Young Planners, will deliver a comprehensive overview of the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) process. The session will be led by Neil Pearce, RTPI Membership Assessment Manager, who will cover the route to Chartered Membership, including the three components of the written submission, assessment outcomes, the support available from the RTPI, and key tips for success.

Neil will be joined by RTPI APC assessor Elisabeth Pywell from Nexus Planning, and Jack Barnes, RTPI Young Planners Committee Member who will speak about their experience of the Chartered process. The event will conclude with a Q&A opportunity, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions and gain practical advice.

Getting to the venue

Marrons offices are located in Birmingham.

By train: Birmingham Snow Hill is about a 2‑minute walk away.  Birmingham New Street is approximately 460 metres (around 6 minutes on foot).  Birmingham Moor Street is around 518 metres (about 7 minutes’ walk). 

By bus: The venue is close to multiple bus routes, including 24, 45, 6, 74, and 907, all of which serve the Colmore Square area.

By car: You'll find several car parks nearby, including Snow Hill, B4 Parking, and Whittall Street, all within a short walk of 1 Colmore Square.

By taxi: Taxis can drop you off directly outside the building on Colmore Circus Queensway, adjacent to Colmore Square. 

Before you set off, it's worth checking for any updates – e.g. ongoing roadworks in the area that might affect your journey.
