In 2020, the Gear Change vision announced that, “England will be a great walking and cycling nation,” and “Cycling and walking will be the natural first choice for many journeys with half of all journeys in towns and cities being cycled or walked by 2030.”

With interventions like Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, CYCLOPS junctions, and Sparrow crossings becoming ever more commonplace, how are planners helping to fulfil this ambition?
