This webinar forms part of the RTPI Online series and is brought to you by RTPI Dumfries and Galloway Chapter.

In June 2020, the community around Loch Ken was selected to be part of the Climate Ready Localities programme, run by Adaptation Scotland.  This will build on the work in 2014 to create the Climate Ready Biosphere vision and action plan.  The Climate Ready Ken project will look at the practical actions that individuals and communities need to take to understand and prepare for the inevitable impacts of a changing climate.

These actions will likely include the retro-fitting of resilience measures to individual properties as well as community-wide actions.  There will also be changes and upgrades required to our shared infrastructure, and a new approach to landscape use and planning.

This project forms part of the wider work of the Loch Ken Trust to build the Loch Ken Plan, a 10-year sustainable community plan, based around the UN Sustainable Development Goals.  This work will align with and support the recently published Glenkens & District Community Action Plan, as well as the ongoing work to develop a strategic town plan for Castle Douglas.

Barnaby Fryer (Loch Ken Trust) & Anat Prag (Adaptation Scotland)

Health & Inclusive Planning (Planning Knowledge)
