Dr Andrew Hoolachan

Lecturer in Urban and Regional Planning, University of Glasgow

Andrew Hoolachan is a Lecturer in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Glasgow. He has worked between policy think tanks, the civil service and academia. His research focuses on urban environmental governance, histories of urban planning, and creative methods in urban research and pedagogy. He was the recipient of an RTPI Early Career Research grant in 2023 for the project ‘Living with Rain: Planning for Everyday Life in Glasgow’, which has had a significant impact on art practice, architectural discourse, and planning policy development within Glasgow. Within the RTPI, Andrew convenes the West of Scotland Chapter and is a member of the Education and Lifelong Learning Committee. He is also an active member of his community, taking up the voluntary role of planning officer within his Community Council in the vibrant southside of Glasgow.
