The Patsy Healey Award for Academic Excellence
This award honours Professor Patsy Healey OBE who made significant contributions to planning research. Professor Healey was the third person and the first woman to receive the RTPI Gold Medal, awarded since its inception in 1895. She was also the first Senior Editor of Planning Theory & Practice. The category was reinstated in 2024 after having been merged with the Sir Peter Hall Award.
The Tony Crook Award for Early Career Research
This award commemorates Professor Tony Crook CBE FRTPI, a dedicated member of the RTPI since 1965. Professor Crook was deeply involved with the Institute throughout his career, including serving as a Trustee until his passing in 2024. University of Sheffield Obituary
The Sir Peter Hall Award for Wider Engagement
This award honours Sir Peter Hall, RTPI Gold Medallist and founder member of the Regional Studies Association. He passed away in 2014. Regional Studies Association obituary The award was briefly merged with the Academic Award category until 2024 when it was split.
