RTPI to speak at Trees, People and the Built Environment 5

Trees, People and the Built Environment 5 (TPBE5), a partnership between leading professional institutes and groups from across multiple disciplines, will be held at Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham and online on 23 & 24 April 2024.

The conference, which will be chaired by Kevin McCloud MBE FICFor (Hon), host of Channel 4’s popular Grand Designs, and Gary Newman, Chief Executive of Woodknowledge Wales, looks at how trees can contribute to the quality of place for both people and nature, as well as net zero ambitions for our built and natural environments.

Richard Blyth, the Policy Practice and Research Manager at the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), along with Dr. Daniel Slade, the Policy Manager at the RTPI, are among the speakers and contributors scheduled to participate in an upcoming event. Dr. Daniel Slade will join Dr. Wei Yang, the President of the RTPI in 2022, and Tabitha Lythe, the Planning and Development Services Manager at Shropshire Council, for a session on "Planning for Trees" on April 23rd.

This two-day hybrid conference will explore how practice can benefit from evidence-based research and can call for the research it needs for informed decision-making. Early Bird tickets are now on sale.
