RTPI Northern Ireland will be celebrating the RTPI's Centenary, as well as its own 40th anniversary.
Children's Project 'Planning My City'
Working with Belfast Healthy Cities, RTPI NI is setting up a project at the Ulster Museum to engage with school children on a planning awareness project. The project aims to demonstrate to children how planning works, to reinforce it as a potential career choice and to highlight the impact of the built enviornment on health and wellbing along with gathering the views of children on the characteristics of a child friendly city.
The project will enable children to create and contribute to an installation within the Museum and to build a photo wall indicating what they like and dislike about the place they live.
Northern Ireland Centenary Dinner and Conference
A Centenary Dinner was held on Thursday 13th March at Queen's University Belgast.
The Dinner was preceded by a Conference that focused on the theme of 'Planning Policy' in preparation for the 2015 Review of Public Administration and also considered the development of a Stratgic Single Planning Policy statement for Northern Ireland.
Recording Planning Changes in Northern Ireland
A research project is being set up which charts the changes in planning and includes a series of thoughts from planners over the decades, including the relfections of members who have been charted for over 50 years.
A conference will be held in November to coincide with the President's visit to Northern Ireland and will include the launch of the Governance Policy Futures Paper.
