RTPI NI invites applications for its Policy and Research Forum

RTPI NI invites RTPI members to get involved in the Policy and Research Forum

RTPI NI's Policy and Research Forum are looking for members from across Northern Ireland to get involved and contribute towards our work programme from 2020.

An important part of RTPI NI's work is to engage with and support activity to provide Northern Ireland with an effective strategic and policy framework for planning. Supporting RTPI officers in this work, RTPI NI has a Policy and Research Forum constituted by members from across Northern Ireland.

The Forum plays a key role in the work of RTPI NI and the wider Institute, including proactively initiating debate and inputting into relevant research, linking into Institute policy, practice and research and developing and promoting policy positions in all planning aspects.

Our activities include leading on the development of planning and related policy, including responding to consultations and promoting the use of research and the good practice of planning across Northern Ireland.

Following a member survey in 2018, a detailed work programme is being developed for the Forum to advise and lead on to promote positive planning policy and practice.

This is your opportunity to get involved

NominationsWe need the Forum to reflect our membership in Northern Ireland, including geographically, professionally and across the sectors.  We encourage nominations from all Chartered and Associate members, and at all stages of careers. We need our members to help set our direction of work so we know what's needed and is useful to our members.

Becoming a member of the Forum would require attendance at a quarterly meeting and contributing to discussion via email, but we understand that you have day jobs and we take this into account, as much as possible, by making the meetings informal and completing business as quickly as possible.

So why not put your name forward, or encourage someone else to apply? It's an excellent source of CPD!

You will need to be a Chartered or Associate member of the Institute.  Positions will be from January 2020 for a three year period.  If you are interested please email RTPI NI northernireland@rtpi.org.uk  or download the application form here.

The RTPI NI Policy and Research Forum has an interesting year ahead!
