Sam is an Associate Director at Wardell Armstrong and is based in the company's Newcastle office. Wardell Armstrong is a multi-disciplinary development, engineering, environmental and mining consultancy with offices spread throughout the UK and Europe.
Sam has a significant amount of minerals planning experience developed over 10 years' working as a Development Planner for one of the country's largest mineral operators. He has been responsible for the preparation of a number of successful planning applications and environmental statements for opencast coal mining projects in the North East and in Scotland. As part of an in house development team, Sam has worked closely with onsite operators, landowners and landscape managers to deliver restoration projects including most notably, the Northumberlandia landform park in Cramlington and the historic parkland on the Blagdon Estate.
In late 2015 he worked within the Minerals Team at Northumberland County Council providing input into the production of annual restoration and aftercare reports. In his current role with Wardell Armstrong, Sam continues to provide planning advice to a wide variety of clients on minerals related matters both on projects within the UK and internationally.
