Joe is a Chartered Town Planner and works as an Associate Planner at WSP leading a range of projects including minerals, renewable energy, commercial, industrial and NSIP's. Whilst based in the Newcastle office he supports the national delivery of Town Planning and wider disciplines provided by WSP.
Joe has worked in planning since 2001 and joined WSP in September 2018 following 17 years in local government during which time he built up extensive knowledge and experience of the planning system specialising in minerals, waste, largescale renewable energy, commercial, industrial and strategic infrastructure projects. Planning experience has been gained in both planning policy and development management.
Prior to joining WSP, Joe held the role of Specialist Planning Services Manager at Northumberland County Council for two years where he managed a team with county-wide responsibility for minerals, waste, largescale renewable energy, specialist planning applications, policy formulation, development management and the monitoring and compliance function (minerals and waste sites).
Joe has been involved with the RTPI in the North East for approximately 2 years, initially as a committee member and then within the NE CPD sub-committee. He has attended a number of Nations and Regions Forum Panel meetings and provided regional representation, feedback and discussions on key topics. Joe is actively involved in the regional CPD events, has chaired CPD seminars and has spoken on a range of topics at RTPI NE CPD events.
