Nominations invited for the RTPI Cymru Executive Committee 2020
The RTPI Cymru Executive Committee is an essential part of our work and is where RTPI members steer our programme of work. We need members to attend meetings and get involved in discussions and contribute to some work in between meetings, but we also make the meetings informal and complete the business as quickly as possible. We need our members to help set our direction of work - we need input on what is being delivered, so we know what's needed and is useful and we need ideas.
Nominations are now invited to positions on the RTPI Cymru Executive Committee for 2020.
Here are the positions which are open for nominations:
Junior Vice Chair (JVC)
The JVC is the route to Chair of RTPI Cymru: 1 year is as JVC, then 1 year as Senior Vice Chair (SVC) before becoming Chair for a year, followed by a year as Immediate Past Chair (IPC). The Chair's role is to provide a figurehead for RTPI Cymru, chair the Executive Committee meetings and represent RTPI Cymru at events. You also host the RTPI President on their visit to Wales. The JVC, SVC and IPC provide support to the Chair.
Three Corporate Members
There are 6 Corporate members on the Executive Committee, but to provide continuation, 3 positions are elected in one year, and 3 the next. You would be expected to actively contribute at meetings to the various papers and development of strategies and initiatives within and outside meetings, as are all members of the Executive Committee.
General Assembly Representative
RTPI Cymru has two positions on the RTPI's General Assembly (GA). This is the representative membership body of the RTPI. The position is for a two year term; an alternate position is elected each year. You are expected to attend the RTPI Cymru meetings, as well as the three GA meetings per year,
What is involved?
There are normally four meetings held per year - 1 in Cardiff, 1 in Swansea, 1 in Wrexham and 1 where the annual meeting is held (the location of the annual meeting is agreed with the SVC); although the Committee is always open to moving.
We need members from across Wales, so that we are representative of the RTPI Cymru membership. Reasonable travel and subsistence payments are made to support attendance at meetings. In return for your contributions, we also offer discounts to the Spring Conference and the Wales Planning Conference.
How do I get Involved?
If you would like to be nominated, please complete the nomination form. You will need to have your nomination proposed by two other RTPI Members, so allow time for this. Nominations should be submitted by Friday 22 October 2019 to: RTPI Cymru, Studio 107 Creative Quarter, Morgan Arcade, Cardiff CF10 1AF or by e-mail to email@example.com
