RTPI members awarded Fellowship of Academy of Social Sciences

The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) would like to congratulate six of its members who have been conferred the award of Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.

The Academy said that new Fellows had been elected for their ‘outstanding contributions to research, and for their application of social science to policy, education, society and the economy’.

Five RTPI members had been nominated by the RTPI

In addition, Waheed Nazir MRTPI was elected after being nominated by an Academy committee chaired by Prof Tony Crook, Emeritus Professor at the University of Sheffield and member of the RTPI’s Board of Trustees.

As Director of Planning and Regeneration at Birmingham City Council for ten years, Waheed’s pioneering approach enabled the local authority to become one of the UK’s top destinations for inward investment and growth. He is currently Chief Executive at NCL Development Limited and Visiting Professor at Birmingham City University.
