2016 L-APC Commendations

In 2016, our assessors nominated candidates who had made particularly excellent L-APC submissions for commendation.  The RTPI's Membership Assessment Advisory Panel then judged the nominated submissions. Three candidates were awarded an L-APC Commendation for 2016 and they have provided their top tips for the L-APC on their profile pages:

Top tips of 2016 include:

  • Familiarise yourself with the L-APC Guidance so that you know assessment criteria inside out.
  • Get the right experience to meet the competencies before applying.  Don't be afraid to ask for greater responsibility or involvement with different types of projects / applications.
  • Get organised early on to ensure you have time to review your submission. Set yourself deadlines for drafting each section and share these with your mentor.
  • Carefully select the best case studies that allow you to demonstrate the competencies. Focus on your role - explaining how your decisions, and subsequent actions, moved the case study forward.
  • Be specific in your Professional Development Plan (PDP) - your CPD actions should be measurable and achievable, with a clear timeframe.
  • Ask for feedback from your peers on your submission. Sharing ideas and discussing case studies can be a useful way to gain a better understanding of the submission requirements.

Please note: To stay fit for purpose, L-APC requirements do change over time. For the most up to date advice, please always refer to the L-APC Guidance on the Licentiate APC webpage. Candidate details provided here are current at time of L-APC submission in 2016.
