This research provides an evidence base on which to build our policy work, informs our members on best practice, and builds the profile of RTPI and planning. - Understanding the Future Planner Pipeline (Deadline close of Monday 24th June 2019).
We are inviting proposals from consultancies and organisations on the supply of future students and the market demand and potential gaps in recruitment of planning professionals. The research consists of - (1) what motivates students to study planning; (2) how this reflects on planning as a profession – the training and skills needed in the marketplace, and a potential shortage of planners; (3) the best ways to address any changes and variations in students from accredited planning courses; and (4) how to best encourage undergraduate and postgraduate planning students to progress into professional practice. The project is likely to involve engagement with pre-university students, undergraduates and postgraduates, universities and employers. [Read more]
- The Future of High Streets in the UK and Ireland (Deadline 5pm on 12th April 2019). We are inviting proposals for research on the future of high streets and town centres. The research consists of two parts - (1) an evaluation of the impact of permitted development rights on high streets, and (2) identification of new ideas and strategies for supporting high streets.
